How a .realestate Domain Saved This Company $250,000

What's in a name? According to Dalip Jaggi, CEO of pre-sale renovation company Revive, branding power and the respect of your customers. And up until two years ago, that was a problem for Revive.

The website domain Revive.com wasn't available, so the company settled for ILoveRevive.com as their website address. However, while the company had many happy customers, those customers didn't always get the company name right.

"Some of our clients, like agents, would be like, 'Oh, you need to talk to ILoveRevive,'" says Jaggi. "They literally would call us by our domain name and I would cringe."

It became such a problem that Jaggi started exploring alternative domain names to relocate his company's website to.

"I tried to come up with different things, like ReviveRenovate.com," says Jaggi. "[But] a lot of other people were using something similar, and I couldn't get my Instagram handle or my TikTok handle or my YouTube channel to all synchronize."

Eventually, Jaggi considered renaming the whole company. In fact, he even negotiated to buy the website domain Renovate.com for a quarter-million dollars.

"That's how big of a problem it was. I was ready to spend $250,000 on the solution."

An easy fix for a big branding problem

Fortunately, a stroke of luck allowed Revive to fix their branding problem for the cost of a nice lunch out. The company was accepted into NAR's 2022 Reach program, an accelerator program which helps young real estate technology companies grow and reach their intended customer base. It was there that Jaggi first heard about .realestate website domains.

"That's when it sparked," Jaggi says. "This could be a solution."

Not only was Revive.realestate available to purchase, but matching social media handles were available across all platforms. Now Revive could take that $250,000 and put it into marketing the company and brand.

"The internet competitive landscape is so, so large and so that's why .realestate was one way to go," says Jaggi. "We can stand out from all the other 'revive' things that are out there and people can know exactly what we're doing."

Jaggi adds, "People now know it's something about real estate."

The benefits of a .realestate website domain

For Jaggi, the biggest and most immediate benefit was the money saved by switching to a .realestate domain.

"It's pretty affordable. But at the end of the day, your domain is one of the most important assets that your business could have. Whether your domain costs $50 for the domain extension, $100 or $500, it's kind of irrelevant because if it's the right decision, it's the thing that can make you memorable," says Jaggi. "If you're memorable, people can come back to you. And that becomes a branding opportunity."

A .realestate domain also helps potential customers understand the industry that Revive serves at a glance.

It's "able to inspire that trust, brand you as that thought leader, that industry leader, and help create that concise understanding of what you do," says Jaggi.
