Why .realtor Is More Than a Domain: It's a Branding Engine

My interview with one of the real estate industry's Tech Titans is one of my favorite hours every month. I am lucky enough to be able to interview some of the most thoughtful, visionary and innovative technology leaders in our industry today. My interview with Matthew Embrescia, Founder of Get.realtor, did not disappoint. He shared his wisdom about the best ways to break through online even with a sea of local competitors. With 20+ years in digital marketing, he singled out the real estate industry because he believed marketing was too fractured and could be significantly improved with a .realtor domain.

In an era where every real estate journey begins online, Matthew says, "Your domain is no longer just an address. It's your storefront, your first impression, and your credibility signal." Agents with AOL or Gmail addresses send a not-so-secret signal that they are not that successful or not very tech savvy. Neither of those perspectives are good for generating confidence and securing new clients.

In this episode of Tech Titans, Matthew Embrescia shares how the .realtor™ and .realestate domains were born to fill a glaring gap in agent branding: the lack of trust, consistency, and clarity in how real estate professionals show up online.

With a background in digital branding and media, Embrescia recognized early that agents needed more than just a pretty website. They needed a framework for online trust. That insight inspired the creation of Get.realtor: a platform that offers verified domains tailored to real estate professionals. He worked hard to help NAR understand why fortifying the REALTOR® brand with its own domain will make it easier for every REALTOR® to stand out and stand up without spending a fortune. And the results have been outstanding.

What's broken in real estate marketing today?

Today, many agents do not use anything but Gmail, AOL, or Outlook for their domain. None of those domains help establish a real estate brand. Others use Facebook, Instagram, their agent website, their brokerage's website, and even their franchise's website. Their brand story is inconsistent among these platforms and consumers are not always pointed to the destination of the agent's choice. Without a centralized domain, it is difficult to reflect the professionalism, experience and success agents have earned in their years in the business.

Get.realtor solves this with:

  • Verified .realtor and .realestate domains that give a practitioner instant credibility. Available only to real estate professionals, .realtor and .real estate domains underline an agent's experience and commitment to their profession.

  • SEO benefits that make agents more discoverable on Google. .realtor domains are well-optimized and discoverable on Google and other search engines. It's a lot easier to rank higher with a .realtor URL than with, for example, a generic agent page on your brokerage's website.

  • A digital brand anchor that scales with your business. A .realtor domain stays with you throughout your career. Switching brands, companies, or even locations does not disrupt your digital footprint.

As Matthew explains, "Consumers are looking for professionalism. If your digital presence looks questionable, they keep moving. Domains like .realtor communicate trust before someone even clicks."
