Why is my NAR membership is showing as inactive?

If your National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) membership is showing as inactive and you can't connect your REALTOR® M1 ID to your account, here are some possible reasons:

1. Your NAR Membership Status is Not Active

  • Your local REALTOR® association may not have processed your membership renewal yet.
  • There may have been a lapse in dues payment, causing your membership to be temporarily inactive.
  • If you recently joined NAR, it may take time for your membership to update in the system.

2. Incorrect M1 ID or Membership Information

  • Double-check that you're using the correct M1 ID (formerly NRDS ID) and ensure that your name and email match exactly with what NAR has on file. You can search for your M1 ID here
  • If there’s been a name change (e.g., due to marriage), or other personal information change, be sure to send get.realtor the updated information, as we do not automatically sync with NAR’s database.

4. Local Association Reporting Issues

  • It’s possible that your local REALTOR® association has not yet reported your membership update to NAR. Contact them to ensure your membership is up-to-date and has been processed correctly.

5. You Are Not a Primary REALTOR® Member

  • Only active REALTOR® members are eligible for a .realtor account.
